An update!

Finally for anyone who even still reads this thing.

Life at school is good. I love my roomates. I love my room! I love some of my classes and the rest I don't hate :p. (Biology and Stats ick) I am taking a night class on Hebrews and it is AMAZING! Soul searching required.

At church we are calling a new pastor Coleman Moore. I am so excited for him to come with his family. This year our church is going to really get excited about the revolution that is Christianity. John and I are loving our youth group too. The kids are amazing. I am falling in love with them deeper than I thought I could. The girls are the greatest and the thing I love about them is that they don't just accept what we tell them--they search it out and weigh it in their hearts. God is teaching me so much through them. He is faithful.

John is still amazing. We are learning more and more about how to work together in life. God is blessing our relationship more and more as time goes by.

So there is a really quick update. Hi to everyone at home! I miss you!

This weekend I went camping with some of my family. When we went to church on Sunday the pastor prayed an interesting prayer. In this prayer he said, "The earth has nothing I want but You."

That sounds all very Christian and all... but I can't help but wonder if that offends God. When I heard him pray that I wrote down in my notebook, "Is that a slap in your face, God?"

I'm sure the pastor loves God--this isn't about him. But what do you think? I mean, God created this whole world and filled it with things that we can enjoy-- community, food, beauty, romance.... I want those things. Can we really honestly say, "Earth has nothing I want but you"? And is it even right to say that? Doesn't God want us to want these things?

What do you think?

it is far off and most profound—

crash [Jun. 25th, 2005|10:34 pm]
my cousin Nathan is not okay though. He was in a motorcycle accident last night. My parents just got back from the hospital. He broke both his legs and is in surgery as a I write this. his sternum is also broken (the bone between your ribs.) As for brain activity-- he is really highly medicated b/c of the breaks and b/c onyl one kidney is working, his liver is bruised and his lungs are really bad too. So we will know in a few days.

When my aunt first got to the hospital she kept saying, "Nathan its mom. You're going to be okay. you are in the hospital. If you can hear my squeeze my hand" She said that a lot of times and he squeezed once. So hopefully that is a real sign and not just a fluke.

What happened was that Nathan was on his bike and a young girl in a neon turned left and hit him. Here is a picture of his bike. You can see his shoe and the hub cap of the neon stuck inside Nathan's bike:

so that is all we know for now. we are very hopeful though! i covet your prayers for him and for us as his family. thanks.
